Traditionally, summer ends for most people after Labor Day weekend. The kids return to school, and most people set their sights on the end-of-the-year holidays. In Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, summer stretches well into fall, and you can enjoy the excitement of summer a little bit longer.
Extending your summer vacation into the fall means you’ll still have great weather. Fishing is phenomenal in our area at that time of the year, and there are still plenty of fun events to attend. Beach days become more relaxing because most of the crowds are gone. Walk along the shore in search of seashells and other beach treasures. Relax and let your worries get carried away with the tide. It is the perfect time of year to get away with your loved one.
Fall Weather in Carolina Beach:
Beach days are the best days! In September, the temperatures hover around 84 degrees. Enjoy a relaxing beach day under the sun without the sweltering 90+ degree summer heat. The best part? The summertime crowds usually subside after Labor Day, leaving you with plenty of space to enjoy the beach. The temperature in October hovers around 76 degrees. The weather is still comfortable enough to sit along the shore with your favorite book. Spend hours relaxing as the waves crash in.
Fishing on Pleasure Island:
Did you know the best time to fish in our area is during the fall? If you like to fish inshore, look for drum (red, black, and puppy drum), striped bass, speckled trout, flounder, cobia, Spanish mackerel, sheepshead, and even catfish. Plan an inshore fishing trip with the Cape Fear Guide during your extended summer getaway. They can take you out near Snow’s Cut, where the N.C. state record (20lb 8oz) flounder was caught. If Cape Fear Guide is booked for your vacation time, check out our complete list of Carolina Beach fishing charters who would be happy to hear from you.
During your extended summer vacation in September and October, head to our two local fishing piers to cast your line. Fall is the best time to cast off and stay a while. The Carolina Beach Fishing Pier and the Kure Beach Fishing Pier are open at that time of year. Neither pier requires a fishing license, but both require a small fee to fish and are an excellent alternative for a fishing charter. There are on-site game rooms, concessions, and plenty of fish to be caught! Be sure to have your camera ready to capture your fantastic catch and the beautiful views from the piers. Hanging out on one of the piers near dusk or dawn creates beautiful opportunities for gorgeous vacation photos.
Boating is a Dream Here:
Fall is an excellent time to explore the different inlets and intercoastal waterways in your private boat. Enjoy exploring and seeing marine life. You can water ski, fish, and more. Need a place to park your boat? Reserve one of our homes that includes a complimentary boat lift. Check out Tre Sorelle, Ship Faced, Graceful Lee, and Anchored Inn.
There are also several places where you can rent a boat slip or launch your boat. Carolina Beach State Park has a marina where you can reserve a slip or launch your boat. At the Carolina Beach Yacht Club & Marina, you can rent a boat or reserve a boat slip. Amenities include a clubhouse, restrooms with showers, a ship store, concessions, and a dog park. They are only a half-mile walk to the ocean. The Federal Point Yacht Club and Marina is located in the Carolina Beach Yacht Basin. They offer various guest services, boat slip rentals, and incredible views of the intercoastal waterway and the Yacht Basin Harbor.
